Special Events
In the summer months, when the rhododendron on the Schladminger Planai are in full bloom and the sheep graze peacefully around the Schafalm, a whole array of events are held at the Schafalm, especially for the enjoyment of coach and group tours.
Annual event highlights in summer:
- every Sunday Frühschoppen with authentic LIVE music
- traditional Hut Festivals in July, August & September
- the legendary Herb Ladies' Festival annually on 15 August (Assumption Day)
Herb Ladies' Festival
Nature is the best pharmacy
Every year, our Herb Ladies' Festival on 15 August (Assumption Day) draws countless guests to the Schafalm from near and far.
Our local "Herb Ladies" lead walks around the mountain that provide fascinating insights into the wonders of nature. Homemade herbal products are sold at stands, while in the afternoon our Herb Pastor Dr. Michael Unger will bless the freshly bound herbal bouquets.
A special menu of regional delicacies along with spirited LIVE music add the finishing touches to this unique event.

Traditional Hut Festivals
in July, August & September
In summer, we actually host three special hut festivals, with the "Almfest" at the end of August the biggest of them all.
Our Hut Festivals include LIVE performances by music groups with powerful voices.
A delicious selection of culinary highlights add the finishing touches, including Kaiserschmarr'n-style blueberry pancakes with apple sauce and locally picked chanterelles in a creamy sauce with roasted slices of dumpling.
