On the world-famous Planai at 1800m above sea level, the Schafalm welcomes its guests. Heinz & Reini Schütter, two brothers from the mountains of Schladming, had a vision. The vision of building a mountain hut unlike any other.
Using wood that had been salvaged from nearby barns, their vision became a reality in 2003.
The Schafalm provides a perfect location for guests in search of a good spot to relax or party, to enjoy great food & drinks, as well as for families with kids, clubs, groups and businesses.
In recent years, the Schafalm has established itself as one of the most spectacular event locations in Styria, while many happy couples have begun their dream of a shared future together here on the summit of the Planai at 1900 m above sea level.
And all of this in combination with a warm atmosphere, honest hospitality and an authentic setting surrounded by a unique panorama extending from Ennstal out to the Dachstein.

TAKE A SUMMER OR WINTER RIDE
...on the Planai 10-passenger gondola up to the Schafalm!
Since December 2019, the Planai 10-passenger gondola has been carrying guests safely and comfortably to the top of the Planai in the Schladming-Dachstein Region.
The Schafalm lies just below the mountain terminal, in summer the ride is included for free in the Schladming-Dachstein Sommercard.
In winter, the Planai is the center of the 4-Mountain Ski Area of Ski amadé, the biggest ticket alliance in all of Austria!
